With the school year in full swing, it is time for CMS Parent Association to get busy. For those of you new to the school, the Parent Association functions similarly to a very casual PTA. We exist to help teachers organize volunteers for social functions and fundraisers. We also try to help parents feel more a part of the Montessori family here at the school. Casual meetings will be held several times this year to help parents to get to know each other, as the kids do. Hopefully, you will meet some new friends, enjoy a cup of coffee and some treats and even form a playgroup with your child's new school friends.

Our goals with fundraising money this year are to help with the expenses of the teachers attending the American Montessori Society Conference. We have one primary fundraiser with Innisbrook planned for this year and plan to add 2 more to help us achieve this ambitious goal. Shanna has told me that many parents have responded wishing to volunteer this year already and we plan to use each and every parent willing to help.

We ask for a one time donation to our organization to support the teachers and school. We are suggesting $45 or more per family, whatever you feel is appropriate. We would love to see 100% participation as we have 3 classrooms and 9 teachers to take care of this year. Pooling our money enables us to purchase larger items. Any gifts we give will have your name signed to a card so that the teachers/school are aware who paid for them.

In past years, we have provided the school with the following:

-New playground equipment

-Montessori teaching supplies from classroom with lists

-Gift certificates for each teacher at Christmas and End of the school year

-Refreshments for parent/teacher nights

-Flowers/cards/food for special occasions

-Teacher appreciation week- something for each day

-Supplies for scrapbooks
